Maj. Dennis.. I just read an article about you and Nubs and googled you to find out more to the story.. watched the interview from Today show.. Your story is such a good story. I cried when I read about Nubs being stabbed.. Thank God for you for saving him..sad knowing other dogs are being treated so badly. I would love to hear from you to see how you two are doing. I googled my name and the comment by some jerk who shares my name, “Brent E. White” popped up. Rest assured, I would never have made such a comment! Just want to clear my name! I am a retired “mustang” Navy officer who spent my first five years of service as a Navy corpsman assigned with the Marine Corps. I, am a Vietnam era vet, although I never had the honor of serving in Vietnam. I am also a Gulf War vet – served in the Gulf as an independent duty corpsman aboard a frigate. Keep up the good work!

Major Dennis,

What a thrill it was to read the article written about you in November’s People Magazine. I was in tears reading about you rescuing Nubs. I am a huge animal lover and work with many local animal shelters. He obviously knew a good man when he met him and wouldn’t stop until he found you again.

Oh, by the way, I hear you are single too:)

Thank you for all you did in the Marines and for giving Nubs a great home.

Major Dennis, We just had early Christmas here at my house a few hours ago. I ordered your book online and gave it to my nephew who was thrilled. I am an animal lover and I have had quite a few dogs, one which was a stray. She turned out to be the most loving pet you could imagine. My mother read your book last night before she wrapped it up and it brought tears to her eyes. God bless you and Merry Christmas!

Happy Veteran’s Day, Major Dennis. Thank you for your service in Iraq. As a fellow dog person, thank you for befriending and rescuing Nubs from a much shorter, harder life. You are both lucky to have found each other. In my opinion, a society should be judged by it’s treatment of animals. We have so much to learn from them and it’s wonderful that you were so open to Nubs to learn the true meaning of love and humanity. Give Nubs a big belly rub for me!

We had a dog in Vietnam Named Budweiser which I ,was ordered to get rid of because of regulations,I wrote Congressman Durward G Hall of Missouri. Long story but we got to keep him there with us. Best guard dog ever!!!I left my dog with the company to go home.Hang in thee and take care of him because he will take care of you and your family. This was in 1970.

Major Dennis, I just read your story of rescuing Nubs to my fourth grade class, and we loved it! Thank you for serving our country, and for being so courageous and compassionate in saving Nubs.
