DIY: 2 Valentine’s Dog Sweaters

Today I have patterns for two different Valentine’s Day sweaters you can knit for your pup or a friend’s. If you have a larger or smaller dog than these patterns will work for, check out this dog sweater calculator to resize them. You can also use any pattern for a larger or smaller sweater and just add the designs to your own pattern.

I. The hearts & bones sweater has a cute motif and has knitted straps to keep the sweater in place.

II. This sweater has a heart with a bone shot through it and some crocheted trim. (for more patterns by this designer for purchase, check out Kay’s shop on etsy MySavannahCottage)

Oh lordy, this cracks me up! (no pun intended) Is your dog or cat embarrassed by his backend? Rear Gear has got it covered. They have adjustable butt covers—disco ball, air freshener, heart, flower, biohazard, smiley face, #1 ribbon, cupcake, sheriff’s badge, dice. Make a statement, issue a warning, make someone laugh. Ha! (thanks, Ange!)

Friday Fun: The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee

I have fallen in love with the itty bitty kitty committee. First—the name is perfection. Second—it has consistently outstanding kitten photos, not schmaltzy and you can just about hear them purring and feel their warm kitten tummies. Third—it’s excellent blogging about the joys and sometimes sorrows of fostering kittens. And, it turns out, Laurie has a shop, lalalaurie, on etsy.com and you know how I love etsy. There’s even a post about crafting with kittens.

The IBKC takes in kittens and their mom, if they’re together, for the Tacoma/Pierce County Humane Society to raise, socialize, and love until they’re ready for adoption. Very cool! Check with your local shelter if you’re interested in fostering kittens. As the summer progresses, shelters will be overflowing with kittens. It takes commitment, but it’s a wonderful thing.

Charlene Butterbean is the resident cat and supreme Big Sister who loves the kittens and seems to take her roll quite seriously, well, maybe not always that seriously.
