Some people and some animals are born blessed. I have not been to an ocean in about 20 years. Some pets are doomed at birth and some are lucky.

I have a litter of kittens and on of them is completly black and he is the quietest and most gentle one of the five. He is very sweet and his name is Midnight he has the face of his mom and the colour of his dad. By the way I also don't believe in this superstitous thing about cats but i kinda do about the other things.

I have a black cat too. His name is Minuit. He just turned 1 this may. He's such a sweetheart, and he acts like a dog!
I've never thought black cats were superstitious. I don't think any of that stuff (walking under ladders, the number 13, ect) is bad luck. I've done all of it. And my favorite number is 13, just by coincidence. Hehe. :)

~blackcatluvr, aka savannahgrey, blackie, cat, blackcatluvr13...I can go on and on.

We have a lovely black girl cat called Kenny! She is supposedly a bengal tiger but we have been stitched up because Black Bengals are an imperfection in the breed and subsequently of no value! HOWEVER, we love Kenny and would not be without her. She is totally mad, permananently stuck up trees, kills everything that moves in our garden and dices with death by running in front of traffic!

I am a :baby boomer" who was a toddler when this event took place. Today, as a pet owner and animal advocate, I can only hope that Laika's terror and distrust was short lived. By all accounts of research it was. But, the stress of abandonment of those she trusted in her last days, is haunting and sad. God Bless this sweet little innocent dog that could not know of the purposelessness for the history she was making. Those eyes that must have seen a vast dark empty sky and just wanted someone to rescue her and love her.....

I read this fantastic story in the paper and sent it to my mom. She was so moved that she did some checking around and found out, supposedly, that Major Dennis is stationed at Miramar Naval Air Station. So she wrote him a nice long letter of support and enclosed a $50 check "to buy your dog some treats". Sadly, the letter was returned "undeliverable as addressed." I would love to be able to forward this to him, if anyone can tell me his mailing address (I live not too far from Miramar NAS, BTW).
Also, it would mean so much to my mom to be able to talk to him and or visit...is that too out of the question? She's 89 and feeling down about some health issues; she has been passionate about the War Dogs story and wants to support our vets & dogs.

The Uniform Code needs to be changed to take account of animal cruelty. Soldiers should also be aloowed to take home pets that they have adopted
