Does your cat love bonito flakes for a treat? We just got a 3.5 oz. bag for $3.75 at our local grocery store. (Bonito flakes are shaved, dried tuna and are used in Japanese cooking–especially for making dashi stock for miso soup.) Granted, our local grocrey store has an extensive selection of Asian foods, but you can probably find bonito flakes in most Asian markets. Compare that price to what you pay for bonito flakes packaged for cats and you’ll see a big difference. The bag I got came out to be about $1.07 per 1oz. and the dried bonito from the pet supply store came out to be $5.80-$7.60 per 1oz. Wow!
