The people heading up the work to aid to the animals caught in the earthquake & tsunami describe the problems they’re facing. Dogs tied up who can’t seek food and water, pets whose owners have died, the inability for aid workers to even reach the places in need of their help. I’m reminded that you can never be too prepared.

Dog Protects Injured Friend After Tsunami
First off, these dogs have been rescued and are being cared for. A reporter & cameraman found these poor pups in the all debris from the tsunami. The one dog is clearly watching over his injured companion. I hope they find their people. The article has a translation of the audio.
Two Dogs Who Survived Tsunami
In the rush to escape the tsunami, Towa, a Sheltie, and Melody, a Golden Retriever, were left tied up in their yard. The family assumed they must have been killed when the wave hit, but somehow the dogs broke loose and climbed to safety.
