New York Housing Authority Bans Dog Breeds

nycha

The NYCHA is banning 27 dog breeds and any dog over 25 lbs from public housing. That’s a lot of dogs to exclude.  Residents who already have dogs that would fall under the ban, can keep them if they register them by May 1st using this form.

The ASPCA opposes the policy and any breed ban or extreme ban on weight.

Here’s the list of breeds .

Dog Walking Jacket

dogwalkingjacketLet’s Go Design has a jacket just for walking your dog called the K-Rosco. Cool idea!

It’s a 4 in 1 jacket that works for all seasons:

  1. Full jacket with removable fleece liner
  2. Water proof shell with adjustable hood that folds into collar
  3. Vest
  4. Fleece jacket

I like that it has:

  • lots of pockets, including one with a grommet hole for dispensing bags for scooping poop, so you’ll always have what ever you might need on your walk
  • a retractable key chain
  • a leash for a belt—handy if you’re one of those people who finds lost dogs
  • carabiners attached to the leash belt for hands-free walking
  • lots of reflective piping for safety
  • a back mesh pocket for a water bottle

It’s not available in Men’s sizes yet, but will be soon.

DIY: Cat Tower That Wraps A Corner

This Mighty Cat Tower is unusual in that it wraps around a corner with an unusual footprint to make it less obtrusive.  What a great idea!  You probably should anchor it to the wall, but if the base is heavy enough maybe it wouldn’t need it.

The post is short on instructions, but has a good list of materials.  And there’s a video to teach your kitties how to make the most of their cat tower.  Check out previous posts on building:

Important Note: the author of on of the Cat Tree tutorial recommends using 3/8″ Brazilian sisal rope because it’s stronger, but more importantly because it’s less heavily oiled than other sisal rope.
