Giant Crocs Shoe For Pet Beds

Noooooooo!  The people at Unique Beasts have done the unthinkable.  They’ve made a pet bed in the shape of a giant Crocs shoe—they call it the Sasquatch Pet Bed.

Crocs are those brightly colored clogs some people like.  The first and only time I tried a pair of these on, I threw up a little in my mouth.  Maybe you’ve had to do an intervention for a family member concerning their wearing shoes meant for gnomes.  I submit these photos as evidence—adult gnome and child gnome. Don’t miss IHateCrocs, if Crocs have become a problem in your life.

I have to admit these pet beds are pretty funny.  The “shoe” or the base of the bed is made from closed cell resin, is easy to clean, and should be pretty durable.  And the washable “sock” liner is clever. They’re only sized for cats and smaller dogs.

Even More Alternatives To Elizabethan Collars

I get lots of visitors to the site who are trying to find alternatives to traditional elizabethan collars (also known as e-collars, cone collars , or lampshade collars).  We had our own miserable time using an e-collar. So here are two more I’ve come across in my own research.  Clearly your dog or cat doesn’t have to suffer in a big, bulky, plastic e-collar.  I recommend planning ahead and have one of these alternatives on hand.

The Trimline Collar is a flexible, lightweight collar that is held in place with a drawstring.  I’m not sure how well this will hold up to repeated uses by a dog though.

Trimline Collar

The Comfy Cone is a soft collar that can be folded down if need be and is held in place by your dog’s collar.  It’s made of a 1/2 inch of foam sandwiched between durable fabric and it has reflective tape for night time use.

Be sure to checkout the other alternatives to the traditional elizabethan collar that we’ve found.

Friday Fun: Oh, Crap!

You know it’s going to be an interesting day when an inflatable pile of dog poop the size of a house breaks loose from its moorings, travels 200 yards taking out power lines and breaking a greenhouse window before coming to rest at a children’s home. The sculpture, entitled Complex Shit, by Paul McCarthy, was part of an exhibition at the Zentrum Paul Klee in Bern, Switzerland.
